Liked by all, Pauline (Emilie Dequenne) works as a nurse in a small town in the North of France while raising her children on her own and taking care of her father. A far right political party makes use of her positive nature and convinces her to run for the town’s mayor position. She accepts but soon realizes that the party leader Agnès Dorgelle (Catherine Jacob) is only using her as a “pretty face” for the party’s national campaign.

In this political drama director Lucas Belvaux shows how easily people can be convinced by populist ideals. CHEZ NOUS! stirred up a lot of discussions due to the clear reference to “Front National” and its leader Marine Le Pen – even before its cinematic release in France on February 22nd 2017.
